Vigasio, near Verona, in Italy’s north east region of Veneto will be to the site of Intel’s new European packaging plant according to Reuters.
The plant will cost €4.5 billion and is expected to employ 1,500 direct jobs and create 3,500 indirect jobs. It is due to come online in 2025-7.
The Vigasio site is part of an $80 billion European investment by Intel. It includes two fabs at Magdeburg in Germany costing $17 billion, a new fab at Leixlip costing $12 billion, an R&D and design centre in France and a lab extension in Poland.
